The Idea

To change the world by creating social norms that get students reading again. To give them free access to powerful books about topics like climate science, ecological economics, behavioral science, technology, and sustainability; and a community to share these resources and ideas with each other.

The Specifics

The New Earth Archive will be a new kind of learning that helps create full-spectrum students capable of innovation, critical thinking, and seeing in whole systems. This fund will be used to provide an online community where they can access important books and movies, and share them and new ideas with each other. Algorithms and suggestions by friends will be used to create personalized reading lists that lead members across the entire spectrum of topics, knowledge considered necessary to be a “whole-earth citizen”. Members will be able to follow their progress through visual maps, and high levels of progress will be rewarded with things like e-Readers, e-Books, and books – encouraging both depth and breadth across disciplines.
