The Idea

New Global Citizens is inspiring youth to become engaged global citizens who have a global perspective, the skills and knowledge to create sustainable change, and an understanding of their role in the world as philanthropists, activists, and change makers.

The Specifics

Through NGC afterschool programs in middle and high schools, students support one of NGC’s international, grassroots, partner organizations which address complex global issues. Teams are equipped with skills to: 1) educate their local community about their partner organization, 2) advocate on behalf of pressing social issues, and 3) raise financial resources to effect sustainable change.
Students are no longer passive learners; the results of their work will have real impacts in communities around the world. We hope to use the funds from this challenge to expand our program to more youth. One program is just $300. With these funds 8 new programs can start and 240 youth will have the opportunity to become engaged global citizens.
