We're building a new orangutan rescue center in Ketapang, Indonesia and we know of around 60 orangutans in need of rescue. Most of them are in remote Dayak river villages that are only accesible by boat. Speedboats are expensive to rent so we want to buy our own. This will allow us to move quickly.
Orangutan Outreach is helping to build a state-of-the-art Orangutan Rescue Center in Ketapang, West Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo). We know of nearly 60 orangutans waiting to be rescued. They are being held as illegal pets and are being trafficked in illegal smuggling networks. These orangutans will most likely die if they are not properly cared for by trained vets. If they get too big they will be killed & eaten. We need to rescue them NOW. The problem is many of these orphaned orangutans are in remote villages many hours away by boat. It costs a fortune to rent a speedboat & captain, so we want to have our own boat. The boat will pay for itself after 5 or 6 trips… and it will allow us to save precious orangutan lives…
